Mohamed Salah has continued his fine form for Trabzonspor

Mohamed Salah has seemingly fired his Trabzonspor side into early title contention in the Turkish Super Lig, as the former Liverpool star continued his incredible run of form.

The 34-year-old has settled into life well with his new club, following the announcement of his exit from Anfield after nine years and plenty of memories.

While there was initial chaos upon his arrival, with a manager exit and the appointment of a new head coach, things have started to improve in recent weeks. That much was evident when Salah set a new record in the division for goal involvements in his first seven appearances, a record that now seems to have been extended in his most recent outing.

That came in Trabzonspor's derby clash with Besiktas, as both sides looked to put themselves in the title picture, with Galatasaray leading the way after picking up 19 points in eight games.

Ozan Tufan opened the scoring for the home side after just 21 minutes, while the result was firmly sealed when Salah drifted beyond defenders to tap in a simple goal with just under 20 minutes to spare to seal a 2-0 victory.

It's a win that saw Trabzonspor jump up to fourth, above Besiktas, sitting on 16 points and just three points behind the league leaders in what is a congested top half of the table.

It also continued a ridiculous run of form for Salah, which has seen him score or assist in seven of his nine appearances for the club so far.

The 'Egyptian King' will certainly be hoping that his inspired form can help his new club close in on the title, which would add to an already impressive array of trophies.

In his career so far, the 34-year-old has won 11 trophies, including two Premier League titles, the Champions League, and both domestic cups in England.

Adding a Turkish Super Lig title to the mix may not be needed to cement his legacy at the top level, but it would certainly add an extra bit of quality to the mix for the latter part of his career.

It remains to be seen whether that will be possible, with there being a long way to go before the league is wrapped up, not to mention three teams and three points separating the team from top spot.

With a clash against Hearts in the Conference League up next, before Rizespor back in league action, it's a busy time of year and Salah will need to continue to be at his best to keep the good times rolling.
