The Celtic attacker has been one of the most productive performers in Scotland since arriving at Parkhead, and now Swedish legend Anders Limpar reckons Premier League clubs should be forming an orderly queue for his signature.
Nygren struck 23 goals last season and has already added another eight this term, yet he has still found himself under scrutiny from sections of the Hoops support.
But former Arsenal winger Limpar insists the 24-year-old has all the qualities needed to make the jump to England's top flight and reckons he could be snapped up for a cut-price fee.
His comments come at a time when United are desperately searching for answers after a disastrous run of form left boss Michael Carrick fighting for his future.
The Red Devils were hammered 4-0 by Como in midweek, extending their miserable winless run against the Italians, before slumping to a 3-0 home defeat against Bournemouth.
Captain Bruno Fernandes added to the drama after publicly questioning the team's approach before being left out of the Bournemouth clash entirely.
With United sitting just above the relegation zone, Limpar believes Nygren could be exactly the sort of signing the club should be considering.
Limpar told PariuriX: “Benjamin Nygren is good enough to play in the Premier League, and you can see that he’s still knocking them in for Celtic for fun. It would be stupid for clubs in the Premier League to not buy him this summer. Man United at the moment are struggling. Really, really struggling. Liverpool are struggling at the moment. Everton are not struggling, but they need quality forwards like Nygren.
"There are a few clubs he can actually choose from that haven’t got a good winger/forward. So, all the Premier League clubs should be looking at this guy, because he’s going to come cheap and he’s a hell of a player.”
