The New York Giants (4-2-1) will take on the Philadelphia Eagles (2-6) on Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field in their eighth game of the 2026 regular season.
Opening the week, the Giants were listed as 3-point road favorites, and that's where the line currently remains despite briefly moving to -3.5 mid-week.
How does the Giants Wire staff see this Week 9 battle shaking out? Here's a look at our picks and score predictions.
This is a big game for the Giants, and the Eagles are reeling, but Philly isn't going to be a pushover. They will find plenty of motivation to play spoiler on Sunday, and they may get a shot in the arm by inserting Joe Milton in at quarterback. The Giants can be vulnerable against mobile QBs, and we still don't know what to expect from J.J. McCarthy on a weekly basis. Big Blue won't get caught looking ahead -- John Harbaugh wouldn't allow that to happen -- but this may not be the pushover game many expect. One thing is for certain: A streak will end. It will either be Philly's six-game losing streak or the Giants' 13-game road losing streak against the Eagles. Get the stones ready because I fear it will be the former.
Philly has more injuries and issues than the Giants do right now (hard to fathom) and is grasping at straws on offense. They will give Joe Milton III the start at QB, his first in the NFL. His size/speed combination could pose a problem, but his main weapons are either doubtful or questionable for this game. The Giants simply need to play an error-free game to get by in this one and not go into a shell on offense.
The Giants aren't particularly streaking after going 1-1-1 in their last three games, but the win against the Texans prior to the bye was an impressive one and the type of win that carries some momentum into their next game. The Eagles are decimated by injuries and are losers of six straight games. I think we are going to see J.J. McCarthy be a little more mobile this week and gain some yards on the ground. The Giants are seeking their first win in Philadelphia on Sunday and, considering how the two teams have played this year, I expect Big Blue to come away with a win.
This one is really a no-brainer. The Eagles have been missing far too many pieces to win games, and even if Devontae Smith and Dontavyon Wicks are able to play this weekend, how many reps will they have gotten with Joe Milton? They will rely, again, on an injury-riddled Saquon Barkley to carry their team, and once again, it won’t be enough. The Giants have too many weapons available, and they’ve begun to really gel as a team over the last couple of weeks with J.J. McCarthy under center. Giants handle business on the road and win.
The Giants have a legitimate opportunity to steal a road win against their division rivals. Philadelphia enters the matchup at 2-6, is riding a six-game losing streak, and will be turning to Joe Milton at quarterback without DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks. Coming off a bye, New York should be rested and ready to take advantage of an Eagles team searching for answers.
The New York Giants have tons of momentum and are well-rested after their Week 7 victory over the Houston Texans. They’ve also had tons of time to prepare and watch film on the Philadelphia Eagles' offense, who will be without their starting quarterback, Jalen Hurts.
Hopefully, the Giants have a game plan to shorten the game clock with their rushing attack and leave Week 9 having destroyed the Philadelphia Eagles' defense.
