There are few golfers who earn more than Rory McIlroy and Bryson DeChambeau.
DeChambeau has spent years raking in LIV Golf's riches after joining in 2022, including a signing-on bonus believed to exceed $100 million.
McIlroy, meanwhile, has enjoyed success both on the PGA Tour and off the golf course. However, here we are solely going to focus on how much both have earned on the course, rather than focusing on payments received off it.
The pair have a fractious relationship which has been simmering for years, partly owing to the fact that DeChambeau was one of LIV's poster boys while McIlroy remained a defiant defender of the PGA and a polemic critic of LIV and their golfers.
Those tensions threatened to boil over at the most recent Open Championship in July when the Grand Slam winner criticised the American's behaviour and intentions after he received a two-stroke penalty for improving his lie in the rough.
The golfers have splintered the sports fan base, with both having vast amounts of fans and detractors.
No matter where you stand on either of them, the undeniable truth is that they are both elite stars at the very top of their game, and among the highest-paid golfers. Who out of the pair, however, has earned the most?
As well as the staggering signing-on fee, on-course earnings have proven a very lucrative avenue of earnings for DeChambeau.
Overall, the American has earned an eye-watering $64,845,155 in tournament prize money since joining LIV in June 2022.
That sum, however, while in no way paltry, only ranks him as the fifth-highest earner with LIV. Jon Rahm sits atop the rankings, having won a colossal $105 million in winnings since joining in February 2024.
Despite having been on the tour for longer, DeChambeau is $60 million off top spot and that is down to the fact that he has failed to win the season-long individual championship and all the riches that come with that end-of-season bonus.
From DeChambeau's LIV Golf revelation in June 2022 to the end of the year, McIlroy played seven PGA Tour events, adding to his career PGA Tour earnings. He racked up a staggering $21,699,000 in tournament winnings from those seven events, with the vast majority coming from the $18 million bonus for his FedEx Cup victory.
In 2023, McIlroy took home $17,921,008, and then earned $12,502,123 a year later in 2024. The Northern Irishman notched up a further $16,992,418 in 2025, and then pocketed $11,573,749 in golf winnings in 2026.
That totals McIlroy's earnings to $80,688,298 - almost $16 million more than DeChambeau's winnings since he joined LIV Golf.
Of course, elite golfers are not just rapacious money grabbers who are in it for the winnings. They are highly competitive individuals who want to win the top awards for sporting achievement rather than financial ones. Although, we're sure earning millions along the way doesn't go amiss.
