Cole Palmer’s red card wasn’t the only big call during Chelsea’s loss to Tottenham.
Spurs ran the show from start to finish, totally dominating the ball and rarely letting Chelsea breathe.
But as bad as the performance was, Cole Palmer’s red card made an already miserable afternoon ten times worse. It was the first sending-off of his career, born out of pure frustration as Chelsea’s discipline vanished in the closing stages.
A needless second yellow now means their star man is suspended for the Carabao Cup instead of next weekend’s massive clash against Manchester United.

Chelsea's winning streak against Spurs is OVER! Why did the London derby go so badly? What did Xabi Alonso get wrong?
Gary Neville had no doubts about Cole Palmer’s red card decision, and he also felt as if his good friend Morgan Rogers should have been sent off in the dying embers.
Deep in stoppage time, a frustrated Morgan Rogers took a cynical swipe straight through Conor Gallagher’s ankles, making zero attempt to play the ball.
Speaking on the incident live on Sky Sports, Neville said: “I think it’s a red card. It’s ludicrous that challenge from Rogers they’ve lost it.”
It was yet another reminder of Chelsea’s terrible habit of shooting themselves in the foot, coming inches away from picking up what would have been their tenth red card since last season kicked off.
