Aston Villa star could be shockingly leave Villa Park and join the Premier League rival.
One of Aston Villa new signings who has been impressive since his arrival, Johan Manzambi, has been on the headline following Aston Villa’s positive results lately. His top form appears to have attracted the Premier League rival. He has been identified as the Argentine star in the team’s target.
According to the report in The Sun, Liverpool has been keeping tabs on the Swiss international.
“His form has impressed Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola and his coaching staff. And Swiss insiders claim Anfield chiefs have declared their intention to monitor Manzambi’s progress throughout the season…”
The Reds have been searching for a versatile midfielder who can operate in multiple roles. Manzambi definitely fits the profile. They are looking for Alexis MacAllister’s successor, preferably next summer as they do not plan to extend the Argentine contract, despite his willingness to stay in Anfield.
The former Brighton man was reportedly saddened by Liverpool’s management decision. MacAllister is now currently looking for a new team. Real Madrid has been reportedly keen on signing him after they lost Rodri last summer.
The 21-year-old midfielder has just scored his third goal for Villa at St James’ Park earlier today, which helped his team snatch another win on the road.
The Swiss international just arrived in Villa Park from Freiburg with a transfer fee up to £ 59.5 million. Surprisingly, it does not really take that long for him to adapt with Villa’s style of play and Emery’s demand. His fine form has made the fans forget about Morgan Rogers’ departure to Chelsea last summer.
His top form so far with three goals and two assists impressed the rivals. The question is whether the versatile midfielder with 20 international caps would continue doing so without getting distracted later.
When Liverpool wants you, it is tempting indeed. Villa should protect their star like Manzambi and put on an unbelievably high release clause in his contract.
Let us hope he does not force his move out to The Reds like the former Newcastle man, Alexander Isak. Should he do so, Villa need to make sure they can price him out so as to be able to find the proper replacement in the summer and stay competitive at the top level.
