The Seattle Seahawks may be best suited to explore a blockbuster trade for Philadelphia Eagles superstar running back Saquon Barkley to potentially add another elite weapon to their contending unit amid the latest developments surrounding Jonathan Taylor and the Indianapolis Colts’ reported disinterest in trading him away.
Barkley remains as one of the NFL’s premier running backs, combining explosive speed, power and game-changing versatility to deliver huge production. Through five games played thus far this season, he has recorded 244 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown on 43 carries, alongside 17 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Philadelphia has fallen to 2-5 on the year following a 38-21 loss to Dallas, raising questions about the team’s direction and whether a roster shake-up may be necessary. Seattle may get the chance to capitalize on mounting speculations surrounding Barkley in the trade market if the Eagles adamantly pursue moving him. We at Seahawks Wire have already written about this possibility when news broke about quarterback Jalen Hurts missing the rest of the 2026 NFL season.
Barkley rushed for 1,140 yards and seven touchdowns in 2025 after producing a career-defining season in 2024, when he finished with an NFL-leading 2,005 rushing yards, as well as 13 rushing touchdowns and 2,283 scrimmage yards en route to winning the AP Offensive Player of the Year award that year. He also helped Philadelphia capture a Super Bowl victory at the end of that season.
Combined with Seattle’s recent acquisition of six-time All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson, Barkley’s championship pedigree and elite running ability offer to elevate the Seahawks into legitimate Super Bowl favorite status on paper if a deal gets done.
