Arsenal were held to a 1-1 draw by Birmingham City to extend their winless Women’s Super League run and increase the pressure on Renee Slegers.

The Gunners have not won in the WSL since the opening day of the season and have now gone five games in the league without victory.

Arsenal could be as many as 12 points behind leaders Manchester City if the champions beat Brighton on Sunday and they are almost certainly out of the title race already.

Slegers led Arsenal to the Women’s Champions League in 2025 but the Gunners have been unable to kick on in the two WSL seasons since and challenge for the title.

The hosts were booed off at the Emirates and it could have been worse after Olivia Smith’s stunning strike salvaged a point for them.

Alessia Russo hit the crossbar late in the first half before Oceane Hurtre fired the visitors in front eight minutes after the restart.

Arsenal visit north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur next week and will do so while trailing Spurs by at least four points in the table.
