Cambridge United return to winning ways in FA Women’s National League Division One South East with 1-0 victory over Dartford at Grange Road

After a run of three straight defeats, Cambridge United returned to winning ways in the FA Women’s National League Division One South East on Sunday.

A first-half goal from Hope Strauss was enough for the U’s to record a 1-0 victory over visiting Dartford at Grange Road.

And head coach Ethan Scott was pleased to see his side find a way to dig out a positive result, particularly after their 4-1 loss at Saltdean United last time out.

Scott said: “We talked a lot during the week about who we are, where we wanted to be, and where we want to go going forward. I said to the group on Tuesday that a lot of the things we’ve discussed were ultimately just talk until action became action.

“I don’t think anyone watching that game can deny the action we showed as a group from one to 11, to the subs, to the fans.

“It was superb, and I’m really, really proud of the girls. Sometimes you just have to win ugly, do the groundwork and do the basics.

“We’ve given away two chances in the game, and we’ve limited them to very little. I’m really pleased with the defensive work.”

Cambridge will switch their focus to the Women’s FA Cup on Sunday (25 October) away at Luton Town.
