Sky is back with a new way to tune into TV. The popular telly firm is adding some new options for those who don't mind ditching the dish and are happy to switch over to streaming via its NOW platform. The move could make streaming sports coverage a little more affordable. The change brings a trio of bundles to homes, including All Sky Sports, Football and a Multi-Sport Membership. This lets homes choose what they want to watch rather than bundling everything into a more expensive plan.
For example, the new Multi-Sport Membership includes Sky Sports F1, Sky Sports Golf, Sky Sports Cricket, Sky Sports Tennis, Sky Sports Action and Sky Sports Mix and costs a lower £19.99 per month. It doesn't feature any football, though, which is why it's cheaper than other plans.
Those who only want the Premier League and access to other top-flight games can sign up for the Football package instead. This includes channels like Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Football but nothing else. It's priced at £23.99.
Finally, there's the fully loaded All Sports plan, which offers all 12 channels for total sporting coverage. This will cost a hefty £27.99.
Along with being more flexible, another bonus of NOW is that it is available across numerous devices that many homes already own. Game consoles, smart TVs, tablets, phones and set-top boxes such as Apple TV are all compatible. All homes need to do is download and install the app to get viewing.
As well as that hassle-free way of watching, NOW doesn't require long-term contracts to be signed - that's compared to Sky which usually wants customers to join for 24 months.
Speaking about the new sports memberships, Carli Kerr, MD of Sky TV & NOW, said: “Every sports fan has the moments they can’t wait for, whether it’s kick-off, the first ball of a Test match or a match-winning double in the darts.
“With our new memberships, fans have more choice over the sport they pay for. Football fans can choose Football, and fans of F1, cricket, golf and more can pick Multi-Sport. And those who want everything can still get All Sky Sports. It’s a simpler, more flexible way to get the sport you love on NOW.”
