In light of Crusaders last week withdrawing from the process of securing club membership for the 2027 season, RFL chief executive Ian Nolan stated his intention to continue working with North Wales to “try to secure a future for the club and professional rugby league in North Wales”.
The main stumbling block between the parties was a failure to agree to terms over where an escrow payment of £150,000 would be deposited.
Towards the end of last week, Cru said they were “resubmitting our updated business plan for 2027” and had “confirmed our agreement to use an escrow arrangement with the RFL”.
“Our proposed terms would see the RFL hold funds equivalent to 60 per cent of the club’s expenses until May 2027, providing financial assurance,” added the club.
In a statement issued on Friday, Crusaders said: “Tonight, we held a detailed and constructive meeting with RFL CEO Ian Nolan.
“We will not be making further comment at this stage, but we welcome the continued dialogue and are encouraged by the opportunity for constructive discussions.
“We would like to place on record our thanks to Ian for his time, energy and commitment to supporting North Wales Crusaders’ application for 2027.”
