William Contreras had a hilarious staredown with Yandy Diaz during a World Series ABS challenge

The Rays and Brewers played into extra innings of a potential clinching game of the World Series on Tuesday night. It doesn't get much more intense than that for the Brewers.

But William Contreras always has time for some levity.

With two outs in the bottom of the 11th inning, the Brewers catcher went to his helmet when a 97 mph sinker to Yandy Diaz was called a ball right around the edge of the strike zone. Contreras was pretty certain he was going to win that ABS challenge. And as the pitch was under review, Contreras and Diaz had themselves a staring contest.

I mean, this was too good.

When the pitch ended up being confirmed as a ball by less than a tenth of an inch, even Contreras couldn't hold back his smirk. Honestly, any ABS challenge should have a mandatory staring contest. It absolutely made for a fun exchange in what otherwise was peak MLB drama.

Diaz ended up getting walked in the at-bat, but the Rays stranded pinch runner Jorge Mateo to end the inning.

The Rays avoided the sweep in the following inning with their 4-3 win.
