Southend United have signed York City defender Ash Palmer on a three-month loan deal.

The 33-year-old has made three appearances for the Minstermen this season.

The former Stockport and Chesterfield man could make his debut for the Shrimpers against Halifax on Saturday.

"He's great in both boxes and a real leader, a captain figure without needing to wear the armband," Southend boss Kieron Dyer told the club website.
