LeBron James still has game ― with his mouth too.
The 41-year-old superstar began his 24th NBA season on Tuesday with an F-word beatdown after a fan appeared to call him soft or hinted at it.
James and his new team, the Philadelphia 76ers, eventually defeated the defending champion New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. But he also appeared to win an exchange with the heckler in the second quarter.
“Ain’t nothing soft in the Midwest,” James apparently said, glaring at the fan. “I don’t know what the fuck you talking about. I’m not from the West Coast. I’m from Ohio, baby. I’m not a Midwest kid. I’m a Ohio baby. Fuck is you talking about?”
The NBA’s all-time leading scorer also let his play do the talking with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists in Philly’s 106-100 win.
NBC’s Mike Tirico said he overheard a fan tell James, “Just because you have a helicopter and you live in New York doesn’t mean we’re gonna cheer for you.” (The former Los Angeles Laker has been commuting to Philadelphia from New York at times by helicopter.)
Someone on the broadcast team relayed James’ “I’m from Ohio, baby” remark but didn’t delve into the R-rated details.
That commentary is here:
"You don't know what the fk you talkin about…I'm not from the west coast…I'm from Ohio baby. Ay…Fk you talkin about"
