Tiger Woods is in the spotlight again after the 15-time major winner was spotted on the driving range at Monterey Peninsula Country Club.
Since the 2024 Open Championship, the 82-time PGA Tour winner has not played in a competitive round. Fans remain eager for his return, particularly after he hinted at a Masters comeback prior to his car incident in late March.
The 50-year-old made an appearance at the TGR Jr. Invitational presented by TaylorMade, which is a premier junior golf tournament held annually at Pebble Beach, featuring 30 boys and 30 girls across three age divisions. Then he was spotted on the driving range, hitting golf balls and hosting a clinic for guests at the TW Invitational to help benefit his foundation.
According to a video posted on social media, Woods showed off to the people attending the clinic, as they offered commentary on his shots. He hit a patented "stinger" shot for all to see.
His first public appearance since the March DUI arrest came at the Travelers Championship, where he and PGA Tour CEO Brian Rolapp presented the new changes coming to the American-based circuit in future seasons.
Many are hoping to see Woods back on the golf course in the near future, as the legendary professional stepped back months ago after clipping the back of a trailer and flipping his Land Rover.
"I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today," he wrote in a statement months ago.
"I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health.
"This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.
"I'm committed to taking the time needed to return to a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally.
"I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time."
Woods became eligible for the PGA Tour Champions in December, and even though he has yet to give an update on whether he plans to play there, the chances are a bit higher because players are allowed to use golf carts.
“Just this body is -- it doesn't recover like it did when it was 24, 25,” said Woods in March, just days before the accident.
“It doesn't mean I'm not trying. I've been trying for a while. I've had a couple bad injuries here over the past years that I've had to fight through and it's taken some time.”
