India‘s tour of New Zealand has delivered plenty of exciting cricketing action, but the camaraderie within the Indian players has also provided fans with some memorable moments. During the rain-affected second ODI at Hnry Stadium in Wellington, Virat Kohli and KL Rahul shared a light-hearted exchange that quickly caught the attention of viewers.
Before the match got underway, Kohli stepped in to help Rahul with his jersey, creating an adorable moment that showcased the friendly relationship between the two experienced Indian cricketers. The incident, captured by the broadcast cameras, soon became a talking point among fans on social media.
The incident took place near the boundary ropes before the start of the second ODI. With Wellington experiencing chilly and windy conditions, Rahul decided to put on an additional layer of clothing to keep himself comfortable. However, the wicketkeeper-batter appeared to struggle while trying to put on his second jersey. Noticing his teammate having difficulty, Kohli walked over and decided to lend a helping hand.
The former Indian captain smiled as he helped Rahul pull the extra jersey over his shoulders. He then adjusted the fabric, making sure his teammate was comfortably dressed for the conditions. The entire exchange was filled with laughter and reflected the relaxed atmosphere within the Indian camp.
The clip quickly attracted attention online, with fans appreciating Kohli’s friendly gesture and the strong bond shared by the senior members of the Indian team.

While Kohli and Rahul provided entertainment before the match, India’s bowling attack delivered a commanding performance once the action began. After a lengthy rain interruption reduced the contest to 47 overs per side, India captain Shubman Gill won the toss and elected to bowl first. The decision proved effective as the Indian pacers exploited the conditions and consistently troubled the New Zealand batters.
Gurnoor Brar emerged as the standout performer, producing an excellent spell of fast bowling. The young pacer finished with figures of 4/30 in his 10 overs, accounting for crucial wickets, including those of New Zealand captain Tom Latham (7) and Glenn Phillips (0).
Axar Patel and Auqib Nabi also played important roles, claiming two wickets each to prevent the hosts from building meaningful partnerships.
Amid the regular fall of wickets, Daryl Mitchell provided some resistance with a fighting half-century. The experienced batter scored 55 off 104 deliveries, attempting to hold the innings together while his teammates struggled against India’s disciplined bowling.
However, Mitchell received little support from the other end as New Zealand continued losing wickets. The hosts were reduced to 133/9 after 40.4 overs, leaving India in a commanding position. Following their victory in the opening ODI in Auckland, the visitors were firmly placed to strengthen their advantage and move closer to taking a 2-0 lead in the series.
