Antonio Conte 'makes decision' on joining Man United as key conditions for next club set
Antonio Conte 'makes decision' on joining Man United as key conditions for next club set

Antonio Conte has made a major demand of his next club amid links to both Manchester United and Juventus.

On Wednesday night Manchester United suffered one of their most damning defeats in some time as they were beaten 4-1 by Como in the Champions League, leading many to believe that manager Michael Carrick must be sacked.

Should Carrick lose his place as United manager, Premier League veteran Conte has been heavily linked as a potential replacement, but if he is to join then one thing must happen first.

Antonio Conte makes decision on next club following Juventus and Man United links

After leaving Napoli at the end of the last season, Conte remains available to be appointed by whatever club he decides to join next, prompting interest from a number of major clubs.

Alongside United, Juventus recently entered the race for their former player and manager after losing 3-0 to Lazio in their latest fixture, with fans in Turin heard chanting Conte's name as current manager Luciano Spalletti faces mounting pressure over his future.

It's widely been reported that Conte would be open to joining either club, with his decision set to be made based on whichever club made an official approach first and what package they would offer.

But now, according to TMW Radio in Italy, Conte has made it clear to Juventus that he is eager to return to Turin, having led the club between 2011 and 2014, but only if he receives guarantees 'for the next few seasons'.

It is believed that these guarantees related to squad reconstruction and should he not be given these promises he will instead join United.

For United fans the news is far from reassuring as it appears to suggest that Juventus are firmly in the driving seat when it comes to Conte's future.

The report suggests that, should Juventus be willing to back Conte and give him whatever he wants to rejuvenate the squad, then he would sign on as their next manager without even thinking about United's proposal.

Shock new name emerges as favourite to replace Michael Carrick at Man United

Should Conte decide to join Juventus rather than United it immediately raises questions over who else could replace Carrick if he is sacked in the wake of the embarrassing Como loss.

Other than Conte, Eddie Howe has been heavily linked with the job at Old Trafford after the Englishman was dismissed by Newcastle United in July.

But, new reports have revealed that former Germany and Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann is now also among the favourites to take over should Carrick lose his role at United.

It is believed that Nagelsmann has admirers within United's hierarchy and was even a leading candidate before Carrick was given the permanent head coach role ahead of the start of the season.

Alongside Conte, Howe and Nagelsmann, Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler is also believed to be in the running given his stellar start with the Seagulls, who are currently third in the Premier League, this season.
