Moment mass brawl breaks out between Hearts and Celtic fans as 'punches thrown'

Tensions were brewing ahead of the game

Celtic fans clash with travelling Hearts supporters outside of Celtic Park

The moment Hearts fans clashed with Celtic supporters in a violent mass brawl on Sunday was caught on camera. The fight broke out outside Parkhead before the league match on October 18.

Metal barriers were raised as weapons and punches were thrown as the carnage broke out on the Celtic Way as a group of Hearts fans made their way along London Road before kick-off, reports The Record.

In shocking footage widely shared online, a woman could be heard screaming as a number of fights broke out between the rival fans. Metal gates used for crowd control were seen being tossed around amid the melee.

The clips ends as the Hearts fans head towards the away end of the stadium but glass bottles continued to be hurled by both sets of supporters.

Meanwhile, Hearts-daft broadcaster Martin Geissler posted on social media and hit out at fellow fans for their "grim" songbook at Celtic Park.

He said: "Some grim songs coming out of the Hearts support today. I was there, it was excruciating and humiliating. A small, small section of our support as a whole but vocal and well represented today. Proud to support the club I’ve always loved but get that stuff out. It’s awful."

Tensions were brewing ahead of the game after last season's title decider at Celtic Park between the sides ended with a controversial pitch invasion.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 23 year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with an assault on a police officer following a disturbance on Springfield Road, Glasgow after the Celtic and Hearts match on Sunday, October 18, 2026.

"The officer was taken to hospital and released after treatment. The 23-year-old man is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, October 19, 2026.

"Enquiries are ongoing into a report of an assault on a 22-year-old man in Celtic Way at London Road, which took place between 2.45pm and 2.55pm on Sunday."
