Man United Transfer News: Manchester United’s poor start to 2026/27 has exposed their lack of consistent threat from wide areas. Michael Carrick’s side sit 13th in the Premier League with seven points from seven matches, and the 4-1 defeat at Como extended their winless run across all competitions to seven games. With pressure building before Chelsea, United need more pace, creativity and depth in attack.
Bryan Mbeumo remains a key option on the right, while Amad Diallo offers another route. However, opponents can narrow the space centrally, forcing United’s wide forwards to beat defenders or create chances under pressure. Carrick therefore needs alternatives who can stretch defensive lines, attack one-on-one situations and create openings when United struggle to break down compact opponents.
Transfer Feed reports that United are monitoring Carlos Forbs, with Spanish and German clubs also having tried to sign the Portuguese winger during the summer. No bid, fee or wage figure has been reported, so this remains an early lead rather than an advanced deal.
The 22-year-old left-footer plays from the right and attacks defenders before cutting inside. Forbs has recorded three goals and seven assists in 11 appearances for Club Brugge in 2026/27, giving him an encouraging return in front of goal and as a creator. His acceleration and one-on-one dribbling could give Carrick a direct option when United need to stretch a defence and create space for Bruno Fernandes.
Mbeumo would remain a key starter, but Forbs could compete for minutes and give Carrick a different option from the bench. His direct running may stretch a back line, open passing lanes for Fernandes and offer a quicker outlet after United win possession. The interest would suit a recruitment plan built around young players with room to develop.
There is a risk. Forbs made 10 Premier League appearances for Wolves without scoring, and English football exposed how much adaptation he still needed. United cannot assume his output in Belgium will transfer immediately, particularly while their defensive transitions remain fragile.
If Carrick uses him, the winger must press with discipline and track runners when attacks break down. Forbs could add valuable variety, but United should treat him as a development signing, not a rescue plan.
