Well, it seems as though Andy Dalton was interested in joining a different kind of flock.
According to ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter, the 16th-year quarterback is signing with the Atlanta Falcons. Dalton, who spent his previous three seasons as a member of the Carolina Panthers, was released by the Philadelphia Eagles a little over a week ago.
Before he was traded to Philadelphia this past offseason, Dalton made seven starts over 13 games for Carolina between 2023 and 2025. He'd complete 64.7 percent of his throws for 1,643 yards, 10 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
Per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, the Eagles were interested in bringing back Dalton following his release. But Dalton, per Florio, "politely declined."
Schefter adds that the Falcons will release quarterback Cooper Rush, who started against the Panthers in Week 2, to make room for Dalton on their active roster.
