Tim Tebow breaks down Florida's keys to upsetting Georgia

Tim Tebow agrees with Florida's decision to start Aaron Philo against Georgia, but the former Gators quarterback believes Tramell Jones Jr. has earned an opportunity to contribute as well.

Speaking on ESPN's SportsCenter ahead of Saturday's rivalry matchup, Tebow praised Jones' performance in Florida's upset win over Texas and suggested the Gators could use both quarterbacks against the Bulldogs. He even raised the possibility of Philo and Jones sharing the field.

The two-time national champion also highlighted the potential impact of Florida's receiving corps while outlining what the defense must do to contain Georgia quarterback Gunner Stockton.

"I think it's a really good decision to start Aaron if he's healthy, and I think Tramell Jones is also an added asset to this offense because of his skill set," Tebow said. "He went into Austin and led Florida to a huge upset win. He is a really darn good football player, and I think he's earned the right to be able to play and help this team."

Philo is expected to reclaim the starting role after missing Florida's 27-24 victory over Texas with a shoulder injury. Jones completed 22 of 35 passes for 155 yards and two touchdowns in his first career start, adding 41 yards on the ground.

Tebow believes Philo's experience will be valuable against a defense led by Georgia head coach Kirby Smart and defensive coordinator Glenn Schumann. However, Jones' mobility and playmaking ability could provide the Gators with another dimension.

"I wouldn't be shocked to see both quarterbacks play in this game," Tebow said. "I might not even be shocked to see both of them in the huddle at a certain point, because I think Tramell adds something unique to this offense."

Tebow also pointed to the possibility of Florida finally having its top three receivers available together. Eric Singleton Jr., Dallas Wilson and Vernell Brown III have played just five snaps together this season, according to Tebow, limiting the Gators' ability to showcase their complete offensive arsenal.

The combination of those three receivers, Philo, Jones and running back Jadan Baugh gives Tebow reason to believe Florida can challenge Georgia's defense.

Defensively, Tebow emphasized the importance of generating pressure without exposing Florida's struggling secondary. He recommended borrowing from Auburn's approach against the Bulldogs, particularly its ability to pressure Stockton with four pass rushers while maintaining coverage help behind them.

"You don't want to bring pressure with a lot of guys," Tebow said. "You want to be able to play two-high as much as you can, and you need to take something from Auburn's playbook. They found a way to get pressure with four in a lot of unique looks."

Tebow also warned against undisciplined pass rushing. Stockton's ability to step up in the pocket and extend plays could force Florida's defensive backs to maintain coverage longer than they can comfortably afford.

For Tebow, Florida's path to an upset requires creativity on both sides of the ball: finding opportunities for its two quarterbacks while generating enough defensive pressure to keep Stockton uncomfortable without sacrificing coverage.
