The Washington Commanders will host the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday in Week 9 action.
Coming off their Week 8 bye, the Commanders struggled early against the Philadelphia Eagles but managed to turn it around and improve by the end of the game. If they can build on that play and keep improving, they’ll have a better shot at defeating the Rams, who are currently favored to win on Sunday.
In an effort to bolster their chances, the Commanders would love to steal a player from the Rams for this matchup. While there are several areas of opportunity for the Commanders to improve, their secondary needs the most help, so for this week's edition of "Gimme Him," we landed on cornerback Trent McDuffie.
McDuffie is a veteran cornerback in his first season with the Rams. Through six games, he’s recorded 25 tackles (18 solo), eight passes defensed, three stuffs, and two interceptions. Similar to how we selected Quinyon Mitchell last week, McDuffie lining up with Trey Amos and Amik Robertson sends Rasul Douglas to the sidelines, where he provides excellent depth and gives Washington a potentially elite group.
The Rams aren’t as banged up as the Eagles were, so this matchup will be much more difficult for the Commanders. Having a guy like McDuffie on the field to defend against the passes Matt Stafford is going to throw to Puka Nacua would be a huge help.
