Tottenham Hotspur go in search of their first Premier League win on Monday night when they welcome Coventry City to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Spurs drew 1-1 with Manchester United last weekend, rescuing a point through Dominic Solanke’s 92nd-minute equaliser. Roberto De Zerbi’s side dominated large parts of the game, but after going a man down following Rodrigo Bentancur’s dismissal, they did well to bag a valuable point away from home.
Coventry City, meanwhile, have suddenly been on the up after an underwhelming start to the season following their promotion. Frank Lampard’s side will head to North London off the back of a brilliant 4-1 win over Newcastle United.
Date: Monday, 19th October, 2026
Location: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Time: Kick-off at 20:00 HRS BST
Pedro Porro sustained a hamstring injury in the defeat to Aston Villa before the international break, forcing him into a month-long rehabilitation period on the sidelines. The Spaniard posted an encouraging update on his recovery from injury on his social media account on Friday, although he will not be fit to face Coventry City.
Another player who will miss Monday’s game is Rodrigo Bentancur, who starts serving his three-game ban for headbutting Luke Shaw last weekend. Dejan Kulusevski is closing in on a return from a serious knee injury, having taken part in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Hotspur Way during the international break.
As for Coventry City, Frank Lampard will be boosted by the availability of Kaine Kesler-Hayden and Taiwo Awoniyi’s return from suspension for Monday’s trip to Tottenham. Josh Eccles and Luke Woolfenden are still sidelined.
Haji Wright remains out long-term with a quad problem, while Aurele Amenda is unlikely to return until December.
Tottenham: Kinsky; Gray, Van Hecke, Van de Ven, Udogie; Tonali, Bergvall, Gallagher; Savio, Kudus, Solanke
Coventry City: Rushworth, Van Ewijk, Thomas, Pinnock, Dasilva; Yirenkyi, Grimes; Thomas-Asante, Rudoni, Mason-Clark; Cherif
For all of their early-season struggles, there is a sense of optimism that De Zerbi’s side will finally end their duck and get their first win of the league season. After spending much of the week in Marbella for team-bonding and warm-weather training, fans must expect Tottenham to come flying out of their blocks and take the game to Coventry.
Coventry can make this competitive following their back-to-back wins, threatening the hosts on the break. But they’d fall short to cope with Spurs’ quality and squad depth.
