Lisandro Martinez sees RED as Manchester United LOSE to Chelsea: What is your INSTANT REACTION? What does this defeat mean for Michael Carrick? The players keep letting him down…
From a possible 27 Premier League points on offer in the opening nine league matches, Manchester United have only managed seven under Michael Carrick this season. The Red Devils are closer to a relegation battle than they are to pushing for a Premier League top-four spot.
United’s momentum is non-existent and the Red Devils could end up in the exact same position that Tottenham found themselves in last season. The writing is on the wall for Michael Carrick and it is all but certain that Ineos will have to make a change sooner rather than later.

If it were not already for his bombshell interview earlier this month, then this performance from Lisandro Martinez was the nail in the coffin for his time at United. Lisandro Martinez has already underperformed in the 2026-27 campaign and his sending off against Chelsea was the perfect summary of his season.
Martinez cost United any chance of staging a comeback after the Red Devils defender was sent off before Cole Palmer netted the subsequent penalty for Chelsea. The 28-year-old Argentine centre-back is out of contract next summer and Ineos know that they cannot keep Martinez at Old Trafford any longer.
