While it remains doubtful LSU will have star linebacker Whit Weeks for the Alabama game, the Southeastern Conference’s latest availability report raised concerns about the Tigers’ other No. 7 jersey wearer.
LSU tight end Trey’Dez Green, who returned from a knee injury against Auburn, was listed as “questionable” on Friday. Weeks continued to be classified as “doubtful” the night before LSU’s 2:30 p.m. contest with the Crimson Tide in Tiger Stadium.
On the other hand, Alabama is reporting progress for its injured stars. Receiver Ryan Coleman-Williams and starting center Racin Delgatty were both upgraded from “questionable” to “probable” on Friday’s report.
It’s not clear what exactly is transpiring with Green, who spoke to the media Tuesday and said he was continuing to make progress physically after logging five catches for 50 yards and a touchdown in an Oct. 24 win at Auburn. LSU had an open date last week.
Green has been wearing a brace around his right knee, which took a blow from an Ole Miss tackler’s helmet on Sept. 19. His ligaments were sprained but not torn.
Weeks’ continued “doubtful” status can be taken as an indication that he’s getting closer to returning to action, but it would have been quick for him to return this weekend at Tiger Stadium. He has had three seasons curtailed by lower-leg injuries, beginning with the 2024 Texas Bowl as a sophomore.
He returned in six weeks as a junior, but that came in a matchup with Western Kentucky where Weeks briefly took the field at the same time as older brother West and younger brother Zach.
Zach Weeks, who was previously listed as questionable on the Tigers’ availability reports this week, was not listed Friday and should be ready to play this Saturday.
The only other athletes listed as out for LSU this weekend are a trio with season-ending injuries — safety Dashawn Spears, receiver Phillip Wright and linebacker Charles Ross — as well as freshman defensive tackle Richard Anderson.
Anderson also missed the Auburn game.
