Having experienced the pressure cooker of European football at the iconic San Siro and Santiago Bernabeu, Leeds United forward Noah Okafor knows a thing or two about elite matchday atmospheres.

The controversial Switzerland international arrived in West Yorkshire in the summer of 2025 following high-profile spells across Europe, competing on football’s grandest stages under the UEFA Champions League floodlights.

During his time with AC Milan, Okafor featured in front of over 75,000 electric fans at the San Siro as the Rossoneri earned a famous 2-1 Champions League victory over Paris Saint-Germain in November 2023. Leeds United ace Noah Okafor names Elland Road the best atmosphere he’s played in

When asked what has surprised or shocked him most since making the move to English football, the 26-year-old forward did not hesitate to highlight the Elland Road atmosphere. Reflecting on his experiences in West Yorkshire so far, Okafor revealed that evening fixtures under the floodlights at Elland Road stand in a league of their own.

He said: “For me, this is the best atmosphere I’ve played in so far. It’s crazy. I enjoy playing at home. It feels so nice.”

The former Milan man explained that the constant noise and unconditional backing from the stands – regardless of match situation – creates a unique environment for the players on the pitch, saying:

“|This feeling is so nice because the fans… they support you, they’re on you. It doesn’t matter if you score or have a block or tackle or good action; they’re just on you. Especially the night games are so special here.”

Coming from a player who has shared the pitch with global superstars against PSG, Real Madrid, and Liverpool on European nights, Okafor’s comments serve as ultimate validation for the Elland Road crowd. For Daniel Farke and his squad, maintaining that home fortress will be vital as Leeds United continue to press forward in their campaign.

Okafor has also lifted the lid on his bond with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who got in touch with the Swiss forward even before he arrived at Elland Road.
