The two-time world champion will present his memoir, The Wizard, at the Creative Centre Auditorium, York St John University, this evening.

The event, which begins at 7pm with doors opening at 6.30pm, promises an insight into Woakes's 14-year international career.

Woakes, who debuted for Warwickshire in 2006, made his first appearance for England five years later.

His career highlights include being named Ashes Player of the Series and being a County Championship winner.

He recently announced his retirement in the summer of 2025.

Chris Woakes's international career was marked by numerous victories and an unwavering commitment to the team.

Notably, in his final appearance for England, he batted with a dislocated shoulder in a sling, earning a standing ovation.

His memoir, The Wizard, offers a behind-the-scenes look into the pressures of international cricket, detailing everything from World Cup and Ashes triumphs to the camaraderie and sacrifices that shaped his career.

The book provides a personal account of his life in cricket, highlighting not just his sporting achievements but also the quality of his character.

A long-time Aston Villa supporter, Woakes was born and raised in Birmingham, where he continues to live with his wife and two daughters.

The event organisers have confirmed the change in venue to the Creative Centre at the university in Lord Mayor's Walk.
