Bayern were ready to splash €72m on Liverpool star before turning to Saibari

According to a report from England, Bayern Munich were prepared to spend just over €70 million to sign Liverpool youngster Rio Ngumoha last summer. However, after the Reds made it clear that the teenager wasn't for sale, the Bavarians turned their attention elsewhere and eventually signed Ismael Saibari instead.

Bayern Munich were linked with a move for Liverpool wonderkid Rio Ngumoha last summer, but the transfer ultimately failed to materialise.

Now, The Telegraph reports that the German champions were willing to spend as much as €72 million on the 18-year-old.

In early June, Sky Germany reported that Bayern had agreed on a five-year deal with Ngumoha's representatives.

However, Bayern's pursuit was ultimately halted, as Liverpool were unwilling to let the youngster leave.

After Liverpool ruled out a potential sale, Bayern turned their attention elsewhere and eventually strengthened their attack by signing Ismael Saibari from PSV for €50 million.

Meanwhile, Ngumoha remained at Liverpool and has made 11 appearances for the Reds this season.
