Tottenham urged to make move for Bundesliga star who ‘plays a bit like Miroslav Klose’ by European football expert

Tottenham are scouring the market for a No.9 to solve their goalscoring woes.

Tottenham Hotspur had a productive summer transfer window, but their season is not going to plan currently.

Spurs brought in ten new players during the window, of which three have been attackers. Savio and Mykhailo Mudryk are yet to make a goal contribution in the Premier League, with the former suffering a muscle injury last week. Omar Marmoush broke his duck in the 3-1 win over Coventry City on Monday, and De Zerbi will hope now the Egyptian international gets confidence from his goal and kicks on at the club.

Dominic Solanke has been struggling with form and fitness since last season, and it’s time Spurs bring on an upgrade over the Englishman to bolster their strike force.

Tottenham urged to make a move for Eintracht Frankfurt striker

Spurs scouts were reportedly present at the Deutsche Bank Park to watch Eintracht Frankfurt striker Younes Ebnoutalib (who plays a bit like Miroslav Klose) in action against FC Koln. The trip turned out to be productive for the scouts as the Germany international scored the pivotal goal in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 1-0 victory over FC Koln last week.

Younes Ebnoutalib has started the 2026/27 season strongly, scoring six goals and providing two assists in seven games across all competitions. The 23-year-old recently won his first two caps for Germany under Jurgen Klopp last month as a reward for his spectacular rise to the Bundesliga, which has also attracted interest from several clubs across Europe.

With sporting director Markus Krösche leaving Eintracht Frankfurt recently, European football expert Andy Brassell has urged Tottenham to test the German club’s resolve for Ebnoutalib in the winter transfer window.

“I think it must have been tough for Krösche, the fact that we’re really close to getting these players who could turn into absolutely world-class players. But we can’t quite get it over the line,” Markus Krösche exclusively told talkSPORT.

“And that feeling that Eintracht Frankfurt could be the next Dortmund, or the next Monaco; that finishing school for elite players. Play here, have one and a half or two good years, and you’ll be headed for absolutely elite stardom. They weren’t quite there.

“I guess the question I would like to know the answer to, and we’re going to find out in the next six to twelve months, is once Krösche’s out the door, do players still have that feeling about them?

“So, I think for those reasons, even if he’s not ready, even if he’s like a prospect for the future, even if he’s a stash pick or whatever, maybe this is the right time for Tottenham to make a move.

“In terms of him being the finished article, Ebnoutalib, to help them now, or to help them in January, to take them to that next level, I don’t think he’s ready.

“Maybe though, the deal makes some sort of financial and sporting sense in the sense that, right, get him now, while the club’s in this sort of transitional period, and maybe we get a slightly better deal than we normally would.

“And then maybe, whether we bring him on and use him in the squad, or whether we loan him somewhere and then bring him in later, you know, sort of Luka Vuskovic situation. I think that’s a fair question to ask.”

Ebnoutalib is not the finished product

Ebnoutalib is one of the in-form strikers in the Bundesliga, impressing with his ice-cold finishing, physicality, hold-up play and aerial ability. At 23, though, the Germany international is still raw in some aspects of the game that require refining. A manager like De Zerbi could help him improve in the aspects he’s lacking and become a more rounded No.9.

If there is a slight window of opportunity in January, the Lilywhites must go knocking on Frankfurt’s door for Ebnoutalib.
