Skipton secure bonus-point win over Selby 2nds at home

Despite a strong start by Skipton, Selby were the first to score, taking advantage of a penalty to score a converted try.

Quickly recovering, Skipton's scrum-half Michael Tam secured three points, and Miles Tetley came close to a try after a superb break.

A penalty for a high tackle allowed Skipton to initiate a move from the line-out, resulting in Anthony Chapman scoring the home side's first try.

Tam successfully converted, bringing the score to 10-7 in favour of Skipton.

Another well-executed line-out move allowed Charlie Brown to score Skipton's second try, although the conversion attempt went wide.

Selby retaliated with a converted try, bringing the score to a close 15-14.

Selby's repeated high tackles resulted in a yellow card and a penalty, which allowed Tam to extend Skipton's lead to 18-14 at half-time.

After the break, intense pressure from Skipton allowed Tetley to score their third try, with Tam successfully converting.

Selby responded with a third try of their own, narrowing the score to 25-21.

However, Skipton's strong pack won a scrum in Selby's 22, and Harry McEneaney's offload allowed Tam to score their bonus point fourth try.

The conversion was unsuccessful, but Skipton maintained a 30-21 lead.

A successful interception by Tetley allowed him to score Skipton's fifth try under the posts, which Tam converted.

Veteran player-coach Adam Oldfield replaced Jarrett Lord for the last 10 minutes, with his tactical kicking pinning Selby back in their own 22.

A late penalty saw Skipton into the corner, and quick ball from the line-out gave Callum Patrick a gap to run in the home side's sixth try.

Tam added the conversion, rounding off the afternoon with a final score of 44-21 in Skipton's favour.
