Holbeach United joint manager Callum Lawe ends his tenure with a home win over Diss Town

Callum Lawe is leaving Holbeach United on a high after victory in his final match at the helm on Saturday.

Lawe is stepping down from his joint management role with the Tigers who were 2-0 home winners over Diss Town at Carter's Park at the weekend.

He recently announced a new coaching venture in the United Arab Emirates which now requires his full focus.

Lawe explained: "I am pursuing an exciting new adventure in Abu Dhabi, which brings some fantastic opportunities but also new responsibilities and commitments.

"Unfortunately, this means I can no longer give the football club, the players and the people involved the time and commitment they deserve.

"For me, if you are going to do something, you have to give it absolutely everything.

"This club deserves that, the players deserve that, and most importantly, the supporters deserve that.

"As difficult as this decision has been, I know it is the right one."

Lawe took charge of the Tigers at the start of last season and led them to a 16th place finish after taking over a squad which had been decimated by player departures.

He brought through a number of players into the first team from the club's academy which he runs alongside Dan Lester.

Lawe commented: "One thing I am particularly proud of is the opportunities we have created for young players to step into senior football.

"Seeing academy players progress into the first team is something that means a great deal to me, and I really hope that pathway continues to grow.

"It has been a pleasure working with the players, challenging them and watching them develop."

Goals from Pat Kacirek and Alieu Jabang secured Saturday's success to ensure a winning farewell for Lawe.

He added: "I want to say a massive thank you to Peter Warrington (Holbeach chairman) for believing in me and trusting me with the responsibility of leading the football club.

"From the very beginning, they showed me incredible support and I will always be grateful for the opportunity they gave me.

"I also want to thank all the committee members, both past and present, for everything they do behind the scenes.

"People don’t always see the countless hours, the hard work and the sacrifices that go into keeping a football club running.

"Without people like you, clubs like Holbeach United simply wouldn’t exist.

"I also want to thank the supporters for getting behind us.

"Football brings incredible highs and some difficult lows, but that is exactly why we love it.

"The fans' passion for this football club is something special and I genuinely hope you continue to give the players and management your full support.

"It has been a real privilege and an honour to lead Holbeach United Football Club.

"It is a club with fantastic people, a proud history and huge potential, and I will always look back on my time here with enormous gratitude."

Their weekend win leaves Holbeach in eighth place ahead of Saturday's trip to Needham Market Reserves.
