Harshit Rana and Prasidh Krishna are set to undergo crucial match simulations ahead of India's upcoming tour of New Zealand. Prasidh's fitness tests are scheduled for October 22 and 24, while Harshit will undergo his assessments on October 26 and 28 as the medical team evaluates their readiness.
India's preparations for the tour also involve managing the workload of key fast bowlers and strengthening the Test attack. The Men in Blue will begin the tour with a five-match T20I series, followed by the five ODIs. They will then play a two-match Test series, which carries significance in the WTC final race.
According to Abhishek Tripathi of Jagran News, Prasidh Krishna will undergo match simulations at the Centre of Excellence (CoE) on October 22 and 24. He has been named in India's Test squad and the squad for the first three ODIs, but his travel and participation depend on clearing the fitness tests.
Prasidh Krishna suffered a left hamstring strain during the second ODI against the West Indies in Guwahati on September 30. The medical team prescribed a 21-day recovery plan, with the upcoming simulations serving as a key test of his match readiness.
Harshit Rana, meanwhile, has not been selected for the New Zealand ODI squad. After undergoing rehabilitation at the CoE since July, he is scheduled to participate in match simulations on October 26 and 28. Rana last played for India in the T20I against England in Nottingham on July 7, 2026.
Jasprit Bumrah has been selected for the Test squad but left out of India's white-ball squads for the New Zealand tour. According to Jagran News, he is currently bowling only 24 overs per week and will soon report to the CoE to gradually increase his workload.
The Indian pace spearhead last featured in a Test during the home series against South Africa in 2025. His preparation will focus on building the bowling volume required for the two-match Test series, while his exclusion from the ODI squad gives him time to concentrate on red-ball cricket.

India's selection committee, led by interim chief selector Pragyan Ojha, has prioritised pace options for New Zealand's seam-friendly conditions. Prasidh Krishna's fitness clearance remains important to India's plans for the tour.
India have named a 16-member Test squad under captain Shubman Gill for the two-match series against New Zealand. The team will look to build on its recent 1-0 series victory in Sri Lanka and remain in contention for the 2025-27 World Test Championship final.
Akash Deep has returned to the Test setup after an extended injury layoff. His last appearance for India came during the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy in England in mid-2025.
The selectors have left out Aaqib Nabi and Gurnoor Brar, who did not feature during the Sri Lanka tour, while Anshul Kamboj has earned a place after making his ODI debut against the West Indies.
India's five-match ODI series against New Zealand begins on November 4. Prasidh Krishna has been selected for the first three matches, subject to fitness clearance. Arshdeep Singh has been named for all five ODIs despite recently sustaining a shoulder injury during the home series against the West Indies.
