The bumpy ride between the Carolina Panthers and defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero is now over.

On Friday morning, fresh off their 27-19 loss to the Green Bay Packers here in Week 8, the team announced that they have parted ways with Evero as well as defensive passing game coordinator Jonathan Cooley. The firing ends a four-year run in Carolina for Evero, who was brought in alongside previous head coach Frank Reich.

That hiring started off well, as the Panthers fielded the NFL's fourth overall defense in his first season at the post. But since then, the unit has experienced more lows than highs—headlined by a historically bad 2024 campaign and constant issues stopping opposing offenses on the ground and on third-and-long situations.

Many Panthers fans, even prior to this year's letdowns, weren't exactly fond of keeping Evero around. So, how are they taking today's news?
