‘I Call Him the Dictator of the NBA,’ ‘What Is He Doing?’ — Ex-Celtics Player Enes Kanter Backs Donald Trump’s Criticism of LeBron James Over Anthem

Former Boston Celtics player Enes Kanter has added his voice to the controversy over LeBron James’ movements during the national anthem before the Philadelphia 76ers’ season opener.

Kanter joins President Donald Trump in criticizing the 76ers star. President Trump shared a moment on Truth Social on Thursday, calling out James for disrespecting the national anthem.

Enes Kanter Backs Donald Trump as LeBron James Shrugs Off Criticism

In a clip posted by OutKick on social media, Kanter backed President Trump’s criticism of the four-time NBA champion. “I think President Trump said it best. He disrespects our country and disrespects our flag and our veterans,” he said.

Kanter further explained what first caught his attention: “I’m watching the game because it was the season opener for the Knicks and I see that he was just stretching. Then I started to see his swing. I’m like, ‘What is he doing?'”

From there, Kanter turned to the spotlight James was under. “This is probably gonna be the most-watched season opener in the last 5-6 years. You just signed with a new team and everyone is excited to watch you. But I mean everybody knows LeBron James. I call him the dictator of the NBA,” he added.

The 41-year-old joined Philadelphia in free agency on a two-year deal. Before signing, James weighed a third stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers, with whom he won one of his titles.

President Trump returned to the subject at a campaign rally in Sioux City, Iowa, on Thursday night.

“What about LeBron James? Did you see that deal. During the national anthem he’s practicing his golf swing. I said what the [expletive] is that. It’s a big scandal kind of a story. I don’t understand it,” he told the crowd.

The 76ers came back from 29 points down to defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers 114-106 on Thursday, the biggest comeback win of James’ career. He finished with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 assists. Afterward, he brushed off the criticism from President Trump. “It must be a slow news day at the office,” James said.

The Sixers are 2-0 and first in the Atlantic Division. They host the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday, and the Knicks visit Philadelphia on October 30.
