After Ricky Saints got himself disqualified in his quest to dethrone Rey Fenix as the AAA Cruiserweight Champion two weeks ago on "WWE SmackDown," he was hoping that the third time would be the charm as the two men met for a third time on the October 30 episode of "SmackDown." However, the champion still had Saints' number as Fenix was able to retain his title.

Fenix got off to a hot start as he used his speed to take Saints off his game, hitting a Tope Con Hilo to the outside, but as the match entered the commercial break, Saints took advantage by sending Fenix to the outside and sending the champion over the announce table. When the action returned from the break, Saints attempted to rip Fenix's mask off which forced the champion to retreat to the corner. Saints would take the action to the top and hit a Superplex that earned a near fall, but Fenix would rally back with a near fall of his own after landing a Roundhouse Kick.

Saints got his foot on the bottom rope to break up a pin after being planted face first by Fenix, who quickly followed up with a Moonsault but still couldn't put the challenger away. Fenix went for a Rolling Cutter but was stopped mid-move, with Saints following up with a Tornado DDT. Saints then hit a Death Valley Driver that only earned a two-count, but when he again took the action to the corner, Fenix countered with a Powerbomb. The champion quickly hit two Rolling Cutters which still couldn't put Saints away, which led to Fenix going for a Mexican Muscle Buster but Saints fought out of it first time around, but couldn't escape a second time as Fenix hit the move to gain the win and retain his title.
