Three former Carlisle United men seal National League moves

Omari Patrick has made a loan move to Southend United from Forest Green Rovers.

And Woking have snapped up Josh Grant and Charlie McArthur.

Patrick has joined third-placed Southend for the rest of the season, having only signed for Forest Green in the summer.

The 30-year-old made his Shrimpers debut in Tuesday's 3-3 draw with Worthing.

ā€œOmari is as strong as an ox but an excellent dribbler," said Southend boss Kieron Dyer.

"I’ve come up against him in the last few years and he’s one of the men we had to target to stop during games. We feel he’s someone who can unlock defences and games, and score lots of goals for us.ā€

Patrick scored one goal in ten outings for Forest Green after joining the Nailsworth side following his departure from League Two side Tranmere Rovers.

The attacker made 109 appearances in two spells for Carlisle, scoring 21 goals - most memorably the Blues' equaliser at Wembley in their 2023 League Two play-off final victory over Stockport County.

Woking, meanwhile, made a double move for Grant and McArthur ahead of last night's clash with Boreham Wood.

Midfielder/defender Grant, a free agent, has signed a short-term deal while defender McArthur has joined the Cards on a short-term loan from York City.

Both went straight into the side for Woking's 2-1 defeat to the leaders.

Grant, 28, was on Carlisle's books last season, making 11 appearances under Mark Hughes, while 21-year-old McArthur was on loan with the Blues in the 2024/25 season under Mike Williamson, playing ten times.

Another ex-Blue has a new club, meanwhile.

Goalkeeper Jude Smith has signed for Scottish League Two side Clyde.

And he was the hero for his new club on his debut as he saved two penalties in a Scottish Cup 4-3 shoot-out victory against Peniciuk, following a 1-1 draw.

His next outing could see Smith up against young Carlisle loan striker Seb Mason, when Clyde go to Stranraer in a top-of-the-table clash this Saturday.

The former Newcastle United keeper, 23, was on Carlisle's books from the summer of 2024 to January this year without making a single first-team appearance.
