Milan have finalized one of the extensions they had lined up after the summer window, as Strahinja Pavlovic put pen to paper on his new contract on Tuesday. He tacked on three more years, and he’s tied to the team until 2031, La Gazzetta dello Sport informs (via Goal).
The defender saw his annual salary grow from €1.7M to about €3M per year. He turned down proposals from the Premier League to stay with the Rossoneri last summer. His rise has been gradual since he joined from RB Salzburg for nearly €19M in the summer of 2024. He wasn’t a day-one starter, but he eventually won over every gaffer and became indispensable under Massimiliano Allegri. His style and characteristics suit a three-man line very well. The arrival of Ruben Amorim didn’t affect his status.
Pavlovic re-committed to Milan after recording 80 appearances, 7 goals, and 4 assists during his time at the club. He’s a staple for Serbia as well, hitting the net 5 times in 59 matches.
The Rossoneri are tending to a few more negotiations. In particular, they aim to reach an agreement with Christian Pulisic and Adrien Rabiot in the coming months. Instead, Fikayo Tomori and Ruben Loftus-Cheek are likely to leave when their deals are up at the end of the season.
His extension wasn’t one of the most urgent ones, but it’s only right for the management to be proactive to keep the players happy. His growth has been pretty remarkable since moving to Italy, and he was rather underpaid relative to his contribution.
