Manchester United fans could not help but call out Ruben Amorim after AC Milan’s shock 2-0 home defeat to Hungarian side Ferencvaros in the Europa League.

Ferencvaros arrived at the San Siro to face AC Milan on Thursday and the Nemzeti Bajnoksag side sealed all three Europa League points on their visit to Italy.

Man Utd fans claim Ruben Amorim is repeating the ‘same pattern’ at AC Milan as he did at Old Trafford

Speaking after Thursday’s Europa League defeat, former Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim pulled no punches towards AC Milan’s performance against Ferencvaros. The 41-year-old Portuguese coach insisted that Milan had “no excuses” for blowing three Europa League points against an underdog side at the San Siro.

“When you play for Milan, you have a responsibility,” Amorim said after the match, as per ESPN.

“You can’t go out there like this. We’re not ready to compete on both fronts in Serie A and Europe. We need to work on our approach to matches.

“There’s nothing I can say: we had to win. It was an important match. I can’t say anything to defend the team.”

The AC Milan head coach added: “Maybe I did something wrong in the last few days. Last year the team had similar problems and today we weren’t ready; we didn’t have the attitude to try to come back at all costs if behind. Tonight we have no excuses.”

United fans took to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, and pulled no punches towards Amorim after he repeated what he said during his time at Old Trafford as the Red Devils head coach.

@Waywardboyy: “I’ve seen this exact comment against our team.”

@CoutoPress: “Have heard this before somewhere.”

@Lionel_Lingard: “Anyone noticing the same pattern again? I love Amorim.”

@Bbadumtss: “It’s a script at this point.”

@TheRealist_1988: “Sounds familiar.”

Amorim was cutthroat during his ill-fated 14-month Man Utd reign and the former Sporting CP head coach slammed United’s performance against Brighton in 2025.

“We are the worst team, maybe, in the history of Manchester United,” he told Sky Sports at that time, as per beIN Sports.

“I know that you want headlines, but I’m saying that because we have to acknowledge it and change it.”

Amorim added: “It’s not acceptable. We can play some football, but in small spaces of time, it’s not consistent.”

“We get nervous and suffer a goal and then it’s hard to turn things around. Brighton were comfortable and we have to change fast.”

Amorim was sacked from United last January and was later replaced by current Red Devils head coach Michael Carrick. The former United boss returned to management with AC Milan after he arrived at the San Siro in June.
