Any three of these thirteen Premier League clubs could be relegated this season

Looking at the 20 Premier League clubs this season, which ones do you think will end up relegated?

I think it is a tough one.

A really tough one this time.

We appeared to have reached a point where it was looking all but impossible for clubs to come up from the Championship and survive.

As recently as 2024/25 the three clubs that had been promoted from the Championship in May 2024, were all relegated instantly with a pitiful number of points. They only picked up 59 points in total from their 114 collective fixtures with Leicester 25 points, Ipswich 22 points and Southampton 12 points, they won only 12 Premier League matches between them.

It is early days but from a total of 20 collective attempts this season, you have Ipswich, Hull and Coventry having picked up seven wins between them and 24 points.

One or more of them may well end up relegated but I don’t think any of that trio are guaranteed to go down this time, immediately after having they’ve escaped from the Championship.

The current Premier League table on the afternoon of Monday 19 October 2026

I honestly think that it is a case of any three from the following thirteen Premier League clubs who will be relegated.

Bournemouth
Coventry
Crystal Palace
Everton
Fulham
Hull
Ipswich
Manchester City
Manchester United
Newcastle United
Nottingham Forest
Sunderland
Tottenham

I am guessing that some of you are puzzled about the inclusion of Manchester City, but if/when their appeal fails against the 114 guilty verdicts on breaches of Premier League rules, every chance that relegation will be the main punishment.

Put it this way, only Hull and Ipswich are seen by the bookies as more likely to be relegated than Manchester City.

By my reckoning the only seven Premier League clubs who I think definitely won’t go down are Arsenal, Chelsea, Brentford, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Brighton and Leeds. Even then I don’t think it is impossible for some of these seven to end up in trouble as well! However, on balance I think they are all going to be okay.

Last season you needed 40 points for safety, with West Ham ending the season on 39 points in 18th place.

Plenty of people will think it is impossible for say Manchester United or Tottenham to be relegated, when they have such huge advantages on almost all other Premier League clubs when it comes to their ability to spend on transfer fees and wages.

Fact is though that Tottenham in their last 51 Premier League matches have only won 10 matches and picked up 48 points. They have finished fourth bottom each of the last two seasons and in 2024/25 only finished on 38 points, in 2025/26 they got 41 points.

If Manchester United hadn’t fluked a home win against Aston Villa on the final day of the 2024/25 season they would have finished on 39 points.
