Stephen Robinson has faced future-based questioning at Aberdeen after Hibs piled huge pressure on his Pittodrie tenure.
Six days on from their priceless win over Hearts at Hampden, new Easter Road gaffer Marink Reedijk secured his first league victory as boss in some style, thumping the Dons 4-0 on their own patch. It’s Hibs’ biggest win in the Granite City since December 1968’s 6-2 success and remaining home fans let Robinson know what they felt post-match.
He was hired earlier this calendar ear after sustained Premiership success with Motherwell and St Mirren but supporters have been unconvinced in recent times. The match was broadcast by Premier Sports and the Northern Irishman was asked ‘some of the Aberdeen fans were singing sacked in the morning, do you fear the yourself?’
Robinson responded: “I don’t make that decision. I am Aberdeen manager until told otherwise. I don’t make them decisions.”
He added in his post-match presser: “I don’t know [what the implications are], I don’t make that decision. I’m Aberdeen manager until I’m told otherwise, I’ll keep fighting until I’m told otherwise. I can’t control that.
“We’re really disappointed with what we’ve seen, and what we’ve seen over the last few weeks at home. As I say, I’ll keep battling on until I’m told otherwise, and I don’t make those decisions. Really, really disappointing. No hiding away from it. An unacceptable performance, an unacceptable result. We haven't taken our chances, where Hibs had five or six chances, took four of them.
“That's always the difference in football. We haven't scored the chances we've created and so we got the result we deserved. If you don't take chances, you don't win football matches. They did. We've got no excuses. We had opportunities to change the result and we didn't do it.
“We have to be better than that. That's not acceptable. The result's not acceptable. I'm not trying to hide away from that. We have to get players that want to fight and try and get us out of this situation. Without winning football matches, the belief is fragile. As soon as we went 2-0 down, it didn't look like we had a way back. I'm not hiding away from that.
“It's difficult to make up for some of the injuries and illnesses that we've experienced over the last three or four weeks, but people don't want to hear excuses. They want to see action. We weren't able to give them that. We weren't able to give them the performance or our result.
“I think the reaction at the end, we deserved it for the performance. It's not good enough. The last few home games haven't been good enough. That's what we're being judged on at the moment. We've got a fight in our hands. We need people to stand up and fight. It's up to them to prove that they have the character now. I've turned situations around many times. I've got belief in my ability. You don't manage 500 games if you don't.”
