3 lessons learned about Colts following second-half collapse v. Titans

The Indianapolis Colts dropped another game, and this time in a devastating fashion, to the Tennessee Titans following a second-half collapse.

With the dust having settled on Sunday's game, let's take a look back at what we learned about this Colts team.

More costly turnovers from Daniel Jones

Turnovers have been a problem for the Colts and quarterback Daniel Jones all season. Indianapolis entered Sunday's game minus-6 in the turnover battle, which ranked 31st in the NFL.

Often at the root of those turnover issues has been Jones, who has now thrown six interceptions this season, along with losing several fumbles. Against the Titans, one interception came in the red zone and took away points, while the other led to a Tennessee field goal. Jones was inaccurate at times as well.

Jonathan Taylor also contributed a fumble, which led to a Titans field goal. Unfortunately for the Colts, this outing wasn't a one-off performance, but has been happening for much of the year.

Can it be fixed?

A brutal second-half performance

The Colts' first four offensive possessions in the second half ended in a fumble, an interception, a punt after five plays, and then a punt after eight plays that was blocked.

The Titans then turned those miscues and short possessions into 20 points. A collapse of this caliber is one that often requires all three phases to contribute.

Turnovers, Jones dealing with steady pressure, and a poor showing in the red zone hampered the offense. The special teams unit gave up a big punt return that led to a Titans touchdown and then allowed a blocked punt that went for six more.

The defense did hold up well, not surrendering much to the Titans' offense, and that unit was put in some difficult situations. But when stops were needed, they couldn't get one.

It doesn't look good for the Colts

The depth at several positions has been exposed this season, and many of the top players who the Colts need to step up haven't done so.

Now 2-4 on the season, things won't get any easier with matchups against the 5-0 Vikings and the 4-2 Jaguars in the coming weeks.

Things will have to get fixed quickly or this season could spiral.
