The New England Patriots could spark their roster and potentially their Super Bowl chances by making a blockbuster trade ahead of the deadline.
DraftKings proposed a deal that would send three-time Pro Bowl running back Jonathan Taylor and All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson to New England in exchange for TreVeyon Henderson, a 2027 second-round pick and a 2028 fifth-round selection.
Taylor has been one of the best running backs in the NFL since entering the league in 2020. He has recorded 492 rushing yards, seven rushing touchdowns and 163 receiving yards this season. He owns one first-team All-Pro selection and four 1,000-yard rushing seasons in his career, making him an established difference-maker who has the talent to immediately elevate the Patriots' offense.
Not only so, but Nelson is also an elite guard who has six All-Pro nods under his belt across nine seasons played in the league. He figures to help the Patriots as they’ve dealt with injuries to starting guards Mike Onwenu and Alijah Vera-Tucker this season, as well as backups Ben Brown and Greg Van Roten.
The package would give the Colts a promising young back and additional draft capital.
Henderson has recorded 203 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown through six games played this season. He has explosiveness and the ability to create big plays, which would offer Indianapolis an intriguing building block for the future to replace Taylor in this hypothetical trade. He came close to rushing for 1,000 yards as a rookie in 2025, as he finished that year with 911 yards on the ground.
However, Henderson's athleticism does not change the appeal of acquiring Taylor, one of the NFL's top running backs who still has youth in him at 27 years of age. Adding Taylor and Nelson would give New England a powerful foundation for its ground game on paper.
It might be too good a duo to pass up.
