Nebraska quarterback commit Trae Taylor struggles in loss

A Nebraska quarterback commit struggled in his team's first loss of the season. Trae Taylor and Millard South (8-1) lost 41-17 to Omaha Westside (9-0) on Friday night.

The loss snapped Millard South's 33-game winning streak. The Patriots hadn't lost a game since their season opener in 2024 against Basha High School from Arizona.

The five-star quarterback finished 13-of-30 for 199 yards and three interceptions. He also struggled to make an impact in the running game, finishing with 38 rushing yards and a touchdown.

Over nine games, Taylor has thrown for 2,583 yards, 31 touchdowns, and six interceptions while completing 63% of his passes. He also has 712 rushing yards and 14 rushing touchdowns.

It was a bittersweet night for the Cornhusker commit, who was officially honored as a 2027 Navy All-American before kickoff. Taylor will play in the annual all-star game in San Antonio, Texas, at 12 p.m. CT on Saturday, January 9, 2027, on NBC.

Taylor is a member of the Nebraska class of 2027. The class of 2027 holds 21 commits and ranks 6th in the Big Ten and 18th in the nation, according to Rivals.
