Noah Osbaldeston enjoyed a debut to remember at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours last weekend.
The 18-year-old, who hails from Bury St Edmunds, travelled to France to feature in the final round of the Funyo Sprint Prototype series, having obtained his International Race Licence only to compete in this race.
Osbaldeston joined DAFA Racing and got behind the wheel of a Funyo SP05 EVO – a 270 hp prototype weighing just 670 kg – which he had never previously driven before.
And up against seasoned LMP2 and Lamborghini Super Trofeo drivers, the teenager could have been forgiven for simply using the trip as a learning experience.
However, Osbaldeston showed that he more than belonged in such company, having found himself on top of the podium on two occasions, as well as recording one second-place finish across the four races.
In race one, he finished in ninth overall and third in the Espoirs, while the second race delivered Osbaldeston his first victory of the meeting.
The third race saw the youngster progress from ninth to third overall, and second in class, while also setting the fastest lap.
And he signed off in race four as the overall race winner and Espoirs class winner after defending the lead under considerable pressure following a safety-car restart.
