Martin Kaymer confirmed that he has undergone his second surgery within two months.

On Sept. 18, following a "challenging year," the prominent LIV Golf German announced he had undergone shoulder surgery. The procedure comes after he sank a memorable six-foot putt at Medinah Country Club, which sealed a remarkable comeback victory for Europe in the 2012 Ryder Cup.

Kaymer stated on Instagram that the latest operation will not affect his recovery from shoulder surgery. "Hopefully, that’s the last of the repairs for a while," the LIV Golfer said. "Looking forward to starting 2027 fully recovered and ready to play wherever it might be!"

Referring to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding the future of LIV Golf, the 41-year-old two-time major champion has found it difficult to regain his peak form in recent years.

After joining LIV Golf for its inaugural 2022 season as team captain of Cleeks GC, Kaymer recorded his best result of 2026 in June when he tied for 24th in individual play at the Andalucia tournament.

Having missed the Adelaide event due to an elbow injury, he ultimately wrapped up the season positioned 53rd in the league's individual standings. LIV Golf’s future is in serious jeopardy, as many of the top stars have announced a departure including Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, Ian Poulter, and Sergio Garcia.

Poulter and Graeme McDowell, Kaymer's former Ryder Cup teammates, have both announced different plans for the 2027 season.

“I have decided to not move forward with being part of LIV 2.0,” wrote Poutler.

“Needless to say, it was a tough decision and one I thought about and discussed at length with my family and team.

“Ultimately, the opportunity to spend more time at home with my family, reduce international travel, focus on senior golf and have the opportunity to pursue other interests was something that I felt was right for me at this stage of my life and career.”

LIV Golf filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Sept. 8, as lawyers have yet to confirm if they will move forward with LIV Golf 2.0. The DP World Tour also announced that no LIV Golfer will be allowed to tee off in their events come 2027, as they were initially granting conditional status in years past.

"We're continuing to monitor this situation very closely, and we're quite concerned by it, frankly," Attorney Robert Fitzgerald said.

"We're reserving all rights and remedies and respect to these statements that are made. Frankly, the timing in particular strikes us as a clear attempt to interfere with our process, with our players, and potentially our reorganization writ large."
