Sir Alex Ferguson has shared a horrific story involving a Rangers fan in his latest book titled ‘Games of My Life’.

The legendary former Manchester United and Aberdeen manager grew up supporting Rangers and also spent two years playing for them between 1967 and 1969.

He did have a decent goal return for the Light Blues, scoring 25 goals in 41 league games over the course of two seasons.

In his book, Ferguson revealed that after the 3-2 loss against Aberdeen, he was approached by a Rangers fan who kicked him as hard as he could. The game had major ramifications for the Gers as they had the chance of winning the title. They were even up 2-1 at one stage in the game, but failed to capitalise on their lead, losing by a goal.

That season, Celtic ended up winning the league, and the Scotsman explains that he was going to be meeting one of his friends on the pavement outside Ibrox, but was then met by an angry fan, whose actions unfortunately spoke louder than his words.

Ferguson wrote: “I’ve been on the receiving end of a lot of abuse for losing games, but there’s one that particularly sticks in my mind. In 1968, Rangers had a chance of winning the league, but instead we turned a 2–1 lead over Aberdeen into a 3–2 loss.

“After the game, I was supposed to be meeting a pal from Australia and I went onto the pavement outside the club to find him. An angry fan approached me there and expressed his disgust by kicking me as hard as he could.”
