Facing fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line on the first drive of the game today in Atlanta, San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan kept his offense on the field. Smart move.

49ers running back Christian McCaffrey took the handoff and leapt over the line for a one-yard touchdown and a 7-0 lead.

The touchdown capped a 10-play, 64-yard drive that saw McCaffrey do everything: He had four carries for 29 yards, and he caught both of Brock Purdy’s passes, for 40 receiving yards. McCaffrey totaled 69 yards on the 64-yard drive; the 49ers also lost five yards on a Trent Williams false start.

The 49ers’ offense has been outstanding all season, and the Falcons are going to need to figure out an answer in a hurry.
