Man United will be 'angry, intense,' Marco Rose warns Bournemouth

BOURNEMOUTH, England -- Marco Rose has told his Bournemouth team to be wary of an angry Manchester United side who will be playing as if they have nothing to lose when they meet at Old Trafford on Sunday in the Premier League.

Michael Carrick is under pressure as United manager after a poor start to the season, compounded by a comprehensive 4-1 defeat at Como on Wednesday night. They host Bournemouth on Sunday and Rose's team travel to Manchester in good spirits, having won their last three matches against Sturm Graz, Sunderland and AC Milan.

Their 3-0 win over the Serie A giants on Thursday night was a comprehensive performance. Rose said post-match his team will stay humble despite their perfect start to the Europa League, but they still have work to do in the Premier League to move themselves up the table. They got their first league win of the season over Sunderland last weekend, and Rose has called on his team to back that up with victory at Old Trafford.

Rose is aware of the pressure Carrick is under, but says the noise should not distract his players.

"At the end of the day, I'm quite sure [Carrick will] tell the players it's about mentality, effort and attitude," Rose said. "I hear the voices and the noise around the club, but I don't know if it helps us because everyone in Manchester seems to know now what to do and how to do it. It should not affect us and our work. It's up to us to go there, be focused, bring our football on to the pitch and react well to situations.

"I think they're going to be angry, they're going to be intense. We have to face it, make an open game of it and, at the end, we want to win it."

Rose added: "You always get to a point where you have nothing to lose any more, sometimes as a manager, as a club, as players. That's why it's always difficult.

"We just have to be ready and anyway we have to react to the situations we get into in the game. We have to start well, we have to keep the energy, we have to keep the confidence, whatever happens, because it's a difficult stadium to play in."

This will be the first time Rose has taken charge of a team at Old Trafford and he hopes to have last season's top-scorer Eli Junior Kroupi back in the mix after he missed the start of their season with a foot injury.

"The plan is to take him with us to Manchester and give him some minutes," Rose said. "He's a funny guy. I really love him. He has a good attitude. He's a special player.

"We have to take care of him and he has to take care of his next steps. But when we train, he changes every rondo you play. He changes every five vs. five plus one session when he is the floater. It's just a different game then."
