Liverpool offer player to Saudi Pro League after horrible injury record

Liverpool have offered struggling star Jeremie Frimpong to a club in Saudi Arabia, according to fresh reports.

Frimpong joined the Reds from Bayer Leverkusen in 2025 for a fee of £29.5 million in a move which many considered to be a fine bit of transfer business.

However, the Netherlands international has endured a difficult time at Anfield after being brought in to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold following his Real Madrid switch.

Frimpong played 35 times in his first season but a lack of form led to him being left out of Ronald Koeman's Netherlands squad for the World Cup.

The former Manchester City academy product has played eight times this season but summer signing Ronaldo Araujo has appeared to nail down the starting spot at right-back.

And according to Ismael Mahmoud, WinWin, citing sources, Frimpong is open to leaving the Reds just 18 months into his new deal with the Merseysiders.

The report claims that Liverpool have already offered Frimpong to Saudi Pro League leaders Al Hilal.

His compatriot Crysencio Summerville made the switch to Simeone Inzaghi's side in the summer, as did England striker Ollie Watkins and Brazil international Gabriel Martinelli.

Frimpong is said to be open to playing in Saudi, where he would undoubtedly earn a hefty salary.

He would join fellow Netherlands internationals Tijjani Reijnders and Steven Bergwijn in playing for clubs in Saudi.

The 25-year-old has been plagued by injury issues during his time in the Premier League, his latest being a muscle problem suffered in the win over Brentford.

Frimpong pulled up just six minutes after coming on at the Gtech Stadium and has been sidelined for around three weeks.

According to the Daily Mail's Lewis Steele, Frimpong is “all-but fit and could play this weekend if needed” for the visit to Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Jeremie Frimpong opened up about injury hell at Liverpool

However, it has been clarified that the club intend on playing it safe with Frimpong by delaying his comeback until after the November international break.

Since the start of last season, Frimpong has missed 30 games through injury - notable encountering problems in games against Bournemouth, Eintracht Frankfurt and Qarabag.

In an interview with The Telegraph back in April, Frimpong was open about the difficulties he has faced I’ve been faced with a lot of injuries.

He stated: "Normally I don't get injured. The only time I had a lay-off before was for a surgery after a bad tackle. There was nothing I could do about that.

"But for it to happen to myself, hamstrings!? It's never happened in my career.

“I’ve had three injuries and, on top of that, the team is not doing so well, like we should do.”

Frimpong added: “I’m not going to lie, it’s been hard, but when I was down I had people with me who made me be with them. They distract me so I’m not just there sitting around looking at nothing.”

The ex Celtic man will be hoping to remain injury-free after the international break when the club give him the green light to be involved again.
