Leeds United could not have asked to play Man United at a better time, especially at home. Amid the crisis ensuing under Michael Carrick, Leeds are plotting a second successive win over their rivals.
Leeds play host to Carrick’s men at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon, having lost to Arsenal last time out but pushing the champions all the way. The Whites took the lead at The Emirates, but eventually lost 2-1.
There is consistency, a sense of togetherness, momentum, and confidence at Leeds. At Man United, it is the complete opposite. Michael Carrick is under pressure; Lisandro Martinez’s comments are a disaster.
Man United were hammered 3-0 by Atletico Madrid during their Champions League clash in the week, and Martinez spoke to media after the match. The Argentine criticised the lack of quality new additions.
His comments have encapsulated the chaos that Man United are in at the moment. In saying Man United needed better signings, he’s criticised not only their longer-serving players, but the new signings too.

Martinez will mark Dominic Calvert-Lewin. A small-ish defender against the player with the best leap in the Premier League; as per Tony Cascarino, Ian Wright backed Calvert-Lewin to bully the Argentine ace.
“He [Carrick] can’t play Martinez against Dominic Calvert-Lewin. He would have him on his back like a rucksack. Did you see what [Dom] Solanke did to him?” Wright said after Tottenham’s late equaliser.
MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES
It won’t be a surprise that Neville found it impossible to predict anything other than a Man United win. Keane, however, backed a draw – the same result between the two sides at Elland Road last season.
Despite all of the mess at Man United, which Neville and Keane discussed earlier in The Overlap’s show, Keane said: “I’m going to go 1-1, a draw away from home.” Neville followed: “I’m going 2-1 Man United.”
Gerrard, who was on the same predictions team as Neville, said: “That’s not what I think”. Keane added: “Leeds will score from a set-piece”. On a different podcast, Peter Crouch predicted Leeds to win 2-1.
